Description: Volunteer teach in Hanoi. ELI works with schools and language development programs in and around Hanoi. Volunteers can work year round with community based English development programs which provide after school help to students, summer language camps, and adult classes. Volunteers also have the option to work at a primary school during the September-May school year. ELI works with primary schools in Hanoi and the surrounding provinces, so volunteers can choose either a city location or a small town. Volunteers wanting to work with adults can join one of the English programs that aid stigmatized populations such as school dropouts, the unemployed, HIV/AIDS patients, or sex workers. Each program offers a chance to get to know energetic students eager to learn English along with the unforgettable experience of living in Hanoi.

Highlights: Vietnam, one of the more recent additions to the "must see" list of places to visit, has a wealth of experiences for the traveler. From the bustling cities to the remote mountains and the beautiful beaches, this is a country that will amaze you at every turn. ELI programs are based in Hanoi, the dynamic captial of Vietnam. It is a city that retains its French colonial charm, but is simultaneously unmistakably Vietnamese. Teeming with small shops and motorbikes, it will amaze you with the hum of activity. But don't worry, the city's numerous lakes provide relief from the hectic pace.

Typical Volunteer: There is no typical ELI volunteer. We work with people from all over the world and a variety of backgrounds. ELI has placed volunteers ranging in age from 18-81. Successful volunteers are flexible, upbeat, energetic, and inquisitive.
